of Allegan, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Alamo Nursing Home. Mable was born October 26, 1916, the daughter of the late, Orrin and Orra (Montgomery) Hale. Mable graduated from Allegan High School in 1934. She was united in marriage on June 11, 1937, to Howard Peters, whom had come to Allegan to work at the Allegan News. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1995. They enjoyed life together on the farm, and raised 4 son's there. They eventually moved to the flats in Allegan, to the home she was born in. In their retirement they spent winters in Florida. Mable was active in an Extension Club and Hospital Guild, and belonged to the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, playing the organ, and also sewed lap robes, which she donated to nursing homes and Veterans Hospitals. She also enjoyed ceramics and collecting colored glass and antiques. Mable spent three years in nursing homes and assisted living, and later returned to her home in Allegan with the help of Home Helpers. She was grateful for their loving care. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Allegan. Surviving are her 3 son's, John Peters and Sharron Fuller of Vicksburg, Roger and Pat Peters of Portage, Todd and Sonya Peters of Scotts, her daughter-in-law, Treassa of Allegan, 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Allen and her brother, William Hale. Friends may meet with the family on Monday, June 11, from 11am till service time at 1 pm, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Pastor Barry Lucas will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Congregational Church. Please note the date of marriage and the date of her service, together again.
