Obituary

Baugus, L.V. "Pete," age 82, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Ely Manor in Allegan, Michigan. Mr. Baugus was born August 24, 1933 in Savannah, TN, the son of the late William and Lettie (Smith) Baugus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. L.V., known to most as Pete, grew up in the South where he worked as a farm hand until he moved his family to Michigan in 1973. After settling in Pullman, Pete took a position with Pullman Industries where he worked until his retirement. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing. He would spend hours on the lake to bring home fresh fish for dinner. Gathering with the family and enjoying his catch of the day was a wonderful time for all. The other passion in Pete's life was his grandchildren. Spending time with them or just hearing about their lives brought a smile to his face. Pete is survived by his wife, Pauline; his children: Tina Plasterer, Gary Baugus, and Debra Riggs; three grandchildren: Kelly Pond, Brandon Plasterer, and Tasha Plasterer; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Berthie. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: James L., Willard, Jack, and LC (Shorty); and two sisters: Laureen and Lucille. A military graveside service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta on Wednesday, May 4 at 2:30 PM.
