Allegan, MI, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at his home. Mr. Strand was born July 13, 1929 in Otsego, the son of George and Ruth (Wilder) Strand. He graduated from Otsego High School, Western MI Univ., and received his Master's degree from Edwardsville, IL. He taught art in the Grand Rapids Public Schools for many years and loved painting, drawing and clay art. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1949-1951. Surviving are his wife, Patricia; 3 children, Pamela Berry, Laurel Anderson and Timothy Strand, all of California; 4 stepchildren, Kathy Brower of Grand Haven, Shelley and John Hastings, Stacey and Tim Madden, and Scott and Dawn Brower, all of Allegan; 6 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Oliver Strand of California and Jim Strand of Lawton. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Strand. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Joseph Spackman officiating.
