Trowbridge Twp., Allegan, MI, passed away Friday, June 22, 2007. Mrs. Sturgis was born February 22, 1929 in Allegan, the daughter of Robert J. and Edna (Willard) Hunt, Sr. She was a 1947 graduate of Allegan High School and was united in marriage in 1949 to Lowell K. Terry, who preceded her in death in 1973. In 1976, she married Donald A. Sturgis, and he preceded her in death in 2000. She attended the Trowbridge United Methodist Church and had been employed at the Allegan City Hall for 17 years, retiring August 2, 1991, which Allegan proclaimed as 'Lois Sturgis Day'. Surviving are her children and their spouses, KerryLynne and William Cochran of Paw Paw, Todd L. and Laurie Terry of Ionia, Susan and William Ashley of Allegan, Jon and Mindy Sturgis of Allegan, Judy and James Oram of Plainwell, and David and Ally Sturgis of Otsego; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Joyce Wagers of Plainwell; 1 brother, Robert Hunt, Jr. of Allegan; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Meyers of Ludington; several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet with the family from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. Pastor Gary Wales officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trowbridge United Methodist Church or Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
