Obituary

of Allegan, died Thursday October 6, 2011. Age 73 years. He was born March 21, 1938, the son of the late Roy and Minnie (Martz) Polmanteer. He was married to Shirley Margaret Vote; she preceded him in death in May of 2009. He worked for Rockwell International for 25 years and then for Plainwell Elevator, where he retired. He was a 4H leader for 40 years. He was a sheep superintendent at the Allegan County Fair for many years. Surviving are his two daughters, Jackie (Paul) Strobridge of Allegan and Kelli Donovan of Otsego; six grandchildren, Jeremie, Valerie, William, Amanda, Lauren and Cecil; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Hannah and Kayla; his brothers and sisters, Irene Vander Meer, Donna Craft and Arnold (Belle) Polmanteer and Katherine Sievers; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Andrew and Matthew Hirsch; and his brothers and sisters, Thelma Besemer, Lillian Spence, Dorothy Schiebout, Margorie Bosse, Roy Polmanteer, Richard Polmanteer and Ivan Polmanteer. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Gordern Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Following the visitation, family and friends are invited to a dinner at the V.F.W. Post in Otsego. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 4H.
