Obituary

Wayland, MI, was called to her heavenly home Sunday, February 10, 2008, after a short illness. Mrs. Vander Baan was born January 17, 1920 in Germany, the daughter of Frank and Alice (Goldacker) Raab. Her two loving daughters were also born in Germany, after which they came to Grand Rapids with her husband, Jack. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara G. Edwards, who passed away in the 9/11 attacks. Lissy loved her Lord Jesus and was a charter member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Dorr. She loved flowers and was a member of the Wayland Garden Club for years. She also enjoyed books and had accumulated quite a home library. Surviving are her loving husband, Jack; 1 daughter, Jane Gollan of Yuma, AZ; grandchildren, Mike (Kelly) Edwards, Doug Edwards and Scott (Christina) Edwards; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends may meet with the family from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of memorial services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Epiphany Lutheran Church in Dorr. (4219 Park Lane, 49323) Rev. Jonathon T. Krenz officiating. Private interment Lakeview Cemetery, Hopkins Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice or Wayland Ambulance. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel.
