Lillian Rose Bennett of Allegan went to be with Jesus on July 23, 2021. She was born in Lincoln Park to John Vargo and Theresa Meszaros Vargo in 1938. She graduated from Perry High and married Richard Amidon in 1957. Matthew Amidon was born in 1959 and Kellie Amidon followed in 1964. Lillian loved life and loved playing the piano and organ as a church musician. She also loved to sing and for a time directed the Boon Baptist Church choir. In 1979 Lillian married Vernon Earl Bennett along with his three children Douglas John, Bethany Jean and Heather JoLynn. He became the love of her life and a great step father. They travelled extensively out West, but their main love was fishing in Minnesota where they lived for a time. Grandchildren brought them back to Michigan, but every summer they returned to Minnesota-kids in tow. Lillian was an excellent cook, best pancake maker, crafter of jammies, dress maker, and a snack packer. A trip to town always included sandwiches on homemade bread and diet Pepsi. She tirelessly tried to get Vern to eat broccoli. ? During this time Lillian earned a degree as a registered nurse. Her passion was working on the oncology floor because she wanted to (and had the gift to) comfort severely ill people. Lillian prayed often for many people. If you are reading this, she likely prayed continually for you! She gave her family a love so real that we didn't understand it until now. It is a love that will not be forgotten, a love that drives and will continue to drive us to be better parents, siblings, children, better overall human beings. Her main desire (Vern's too) was that the individuals in her family would come to a personal knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ.
Lillian is survived by her children: Matt and Wendy Amidon, Doug and Edna Bennett, Kellie Wolthuis, Beth and Steve Golphin, Heather and Sal Bergamo, several grandchildren: Nicole Sherburn, Eric VanderHoef, Thomas Bennett, Brandon Bennett, Caleb Wolthuis, Corrie Walker, Christopher Golphin, Stephanie Golphin, and several great grandchildren.
