Lila W. Hitt, 88 of Hopkins, died Thursday, June 26, 2003 at the Laurels of Sandy Creek, Wayland. Mrs. Hitt was born October 3, 1914 in Randall, WI the daughter of Fredrick and Millie (Sleuzek) Schenning. She had worked at Weick's Grocery in Hopkins for over 30 years. Surviving are 3 children, Jean Grandville of Alaska, Gloria Brandstatt of Hopkins, Ed & Grace Hitt of Hopkins; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sr.; 1 daughter, Joan Schweikert; 1 great granddaughter, Paula Lemley; 3 brothers and 1 sister. There will be no visitation or services at this time. A family graveside will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayland Ambulance. Arrangements by Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel.
