of Allegan, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Life Care Center in Plainwell. Mr. Barnes was born July 1, 1925, in Charlton, MA, the son of Elbert and Flora (Frenia) Barnes. Les was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII. He was united in marriage to Phyllis M. Pierman, on September 28, 1946. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2012. Mr. Barnes worked as a auto mechanic for several garages in the Allegan area over the years, he also worked for Roger Smith and Dick Gurn. Surviving are his 6 children; Cheryl and Ron Grinnell, Larry and Linda Barnes, Gary Barnes, Janice and Larry Statler, Terry and Mary Barnes, all of Allegan, and Betty Mae Barnes of MA, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, his brother, Russell, and his sister, Laura, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his son, Neil, and several brothers and sisters. Friends may meet with Leslie and Phyllis's family on Tuesday, June 19, at 10 am till service time at 11 am at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Pastor Paul Hays will officiate.
