Obituary

Tooker, Leroy O., of Allegan, died Thursday, October 13, 2011, at the Ely Manor Nursing Home in Allegan. Mr. Tooker was born September 8, 1927, in Allegan, the son of Efford and Isabella (Smith) Tooker. Leroy graduated from Allegan High School in 1945. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII. Leroy worked for Baker Furniture in Holland for 43 years, retiring in 1990. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, were just a few of his favorite things to do. When he was inside he enjoyed watching Tigers Baseball. Surviving are his wife, Linda, 6 children; Frank and Nola Tooker of Allegan, Judy Whatley, and Randy and Anitha VanderHill all of California, Melinda Thompson of Allegan, Cheryl and Charles VanderHill of California, and Bonnie Swaney of Plainwell, 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Max. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, October 16, from 3-5 pm, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 11 am at the Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Pastor Tony Shumaker will officiate. Memorials may be made to Trowbridge United Methodist Church, or the Activities Dept. at Ely Manor.
