aged 79, of Hopkins, MI, died Monday, November 22, 2004 at the Laurels of Sandy Creek, Wayland. Mrs. Rankens was born November 17, 1925 in Holland, MI, the daughter of Art and Esther (VanOosterhout) Gumser. She had been a long-time member of the Hopkins Community Reformed Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and singing in the choir. Surviving are her husband, Glenn J., whom she married Dec. 1, 1945; 3 children and their spouses, Dale and Phyllis Rankens of Dorr, Darlene and Dan Miller of Alma, and Daryl Rankens of Hopkins; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 brother and 1 sister, Robert Miles of Kentucky and Ilene McLaughlin of Lowell; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dutch Schagardus. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Mark Kamper officiating.
