of Allegan, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011. Age 74 years. Lela Gertrude Athearn was born December 6, 1936, the daughter of the late Frank and Harriet (Stevens) Nichols. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was married to Cyrus Athearn; he survives her. Surviving besides her husband are her son, Dennis (Lisa) Athearn of Allegan; three daughters, Penny (Darl) Evans of Allegan, Debbie (Albert Jr.) Christman of Allegan and Connie (Jim) Lewis of Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margie (Carl) Chupp, Mildred Blair and Lueller Merredith; and several nieces and nephews. Lela was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Megan March; and two brothers, Doyle Nichols and Cleve Nichols. She will be sadly missed by her special companion "Sissy". Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral chapel. Pastor G. Patrick White will officiate.
