Obituary

Fennville, MI, died Friday, January 18, 2008. Mr. Decker was born May 10, 1936 in Otsego, the son of William and Mary (VanNess) Decker. He had served in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed at Fisher Body in Kalamazoo and National Motors in South Haven, prior to 1970. From 1970-1973, he had owned and operated the Accommodation Store in Pullman, then Lee's General Store in Chicora from 1974-1985, and had been employed at Haworth in Douglas from 1987 -1994. He had been a boxer in High School and the U.S. Navy and a Pullman firefighter in the 70's. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, baseball, fishing, and the cabin in Baldwin. Surviving are 3 children and their spouses, Marilyn and John Ransom of Pullman, Sharon and Robert Schultz of Allegan, and Denise and John Mileskiewicz of Fennville; 4 grandchildren, Crystal, Stephanie, Justin, and John Paul; 1 sister, Joyce Doster of Allegan; daughter-in-law, Rosie Decker. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Pansy Decker, wife, Caroline K. (VandenBosch) in 1994, and son, Robert. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. Pastor Raymond Sundell officiating. Interment Lee Cemetery, Lee Twp., MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
