Obituary

Allegan, MI, formerly of Wyoming, MI, died Monday, November 27, 2006 at Metron of Allegan. Mr. Gerou was born November 25, 1920 in Escanaba, the son of Eldridge and Elizabeth (Beach) Gerou. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII. He retired from G.M. in 1982 after 30 years of service and also worked for 35 years as a watch maker. During his retirement, he was known as Larry the Can Man. Surviving are 4 children, Laura and Donald Hawley of Allegan, Mary Ann and Barry Whitehead of Galesburg, Lawrence Jr. and Cheryl Gerou of Coopersville and Gerald and Yvonne Gerou of Dorr; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Marian Scherer of Escanaba, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne, whom he married in 1941 in Escanaba; 1 son, John, 3 brothers, Bud, Leonard and David, and his sister, Bertha Johnson. Friends may meet with the family from from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at 12 noon Wednesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Wyoming, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wings of Hope Hospice.
