Lavell "Dottie" Weston, 91 Rejoined her heavenly family on April 25, 2019. Dottie was a dedicated nurse for 51 years, prior to her retirement. She was a public nurse at Allegan General Hospital and also worked as a private duty nurse for several local families, the Allegan Medical Care Facility, and several local doctors. Dottie was one of the first nurse volunteers at the local hospice house. In addition to her years of service, her legacy includes the training and mentoring of many nurses and care providers. She was preceded in death by husbands, David N. Weston and Marvin Brower. Dottie and Marv shared a love of gardening. Their extensive flower gardens attracted a great deal of attention from those entering or leaving Allegan on highway M40 North. Dottie and Marv donated the proceeds from their vegetable garden to the Sunset House and volunteered many hours to the upkeep of those grounds and in service to its clients. Dottie was recognized many times with the annual STAR employee award from Allegan General Hospital. She attended the Allegan United Methodist Church. She was a member of Business and Professional Women of Allegan and of the Allegan County Republican Women. Dottie leaves behind Marv's children: Kathy, Shelley, Stacey and Scott, and his many grandchildren; her son, Dave and his children, Sara and Michael; her son Dan, his wife Pam (Martens) and their daughter, Taryn Weston Bain, granddaughter Gaia Bain and son, Kenton. The family wishes to acknowledge and to thank Joyce Watts, Dottie's long-time friend and caregiver, for her love and tender care of their Mom and Grandma as she fulfilled her mission on this earth. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Allegan United Methodist Church with a service to follow at 11:00 AM in the church. A private interment will follow at the Banfield Cemetery.
