On October 4, 2002, Lauren Kogge Lane, 14, left her loving family to return to her heavenly home. Born November 6, 1987 in Kalamazoo, she is survived by her parents, Darl & Paulette Lane, her grandparents, Paul & Arlene Van Belle of Niles, Bill & Virginia Lane of Allegan and Fred & Jeanette Kogge of Hastings; her great grandparents, Ed & Marian Whitten of Florida. Also surviving are Scott Kogge, aunts & uncles, Dirk & Shelly Van Belle of Kalamazoo, Rick & Nancy Johnson of Portage, Jeff & Tina Van Belle of Edwardsburg, Kristina Thompson of Port Huron and 11 cousins. Preceding her in death is her infant brother, Carter William Lane. Lauren began her schooling at the Early Intervention Program through the Kalamazoo Public Schools. Later, she attended Plainwell's Gilkey & Star Elementary Schools, Otsego's Dix Street Elementary and most recently, was attending Allegan County Development Center. Lauren loved horseback riding, and took weekly lessons. Earlier in her life, she loved swimming, as well. Beloved by her family, friends, teachers, therapists, doctors, and caregivers, Lauren touched the hearts of all that knew her. She inspired her grandmother, Arlene, to write a book about her life entitled, "A Journey of Healing", which was published recently. Lauren displayed courage, stength, unconditional love and compassion far beyond her years, truly a child of God, an angel sent to show the rest of us God's perfect love. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where services will be held Monday 2:00 pm. Pastor Gary Wales officiating. Interment Earl Cemetery, Pine Grove Township. Memorials may be made to the Allegan County Development Center or Hospice of Michgan's Pediatric Unit in Grand Rapids.
