Larry Norman Stamper, Sr., 73, of Allegan, MI passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Rose Arbor Hospice with his wife of nearly twenty-five years by his side. Born June 30, 1944 in East Chicago, IN, he was the son of the late Oather Thomas Stamper and Evelyn Littleton Stamper and was the husband of Beverly Stamper. Mr. Stamper had worked at Allegan General Hospital for 18 years and Allegan River Valley Machine for seven years prior to retirement. He was also a master locksmith and a true jack of all trades. He was a member of the Allegan Eagles and the Michigan Flywheelers Antique Engine Museum. Mr. Stamper loved spending time in his pole barn either working on small engines, repairing automobiles or practicing his blacksmithing. He and his family loved spending Saturday's traveling to garage sales after having a breakfast at Village Inn. Mr. Stamper will be remembered fondly as a helpful and giving man who was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed him. In addition to his wife, Mr. Stamper is survived by his children, Larry (Sandra) Stamper, Jr., Roxanne Lynn Goodrich and Sharlene (Edward) Warren; brother, Randy (Pam) Stamper; sister, Patricia (Ronnie) Arnett; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and his faithful furry friends, Bailey and Boomer. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jimmy Simmons. The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Donald Miller officiating. Burial will take place in Millgrove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to either Allegan Veterinary Clinic to help animals get the care and medications they need; or to Rose Arbor Hospice. Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
