Larry Wilbur Raab passed on October 7, 2025, at Beacon (Borgess) Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born in Allegan, MI to his late parents Wilbur W. Raab and Arla B. (Clawson) Truax, on September 5, 1939.
Larry attended Wayland High School, where he was active in both baseball and track & field. He also worked as a pin setter at the local bowling alley. Following graduation, Larry proudly served his country during the Vietnam conflict as a tank mechanic in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he worked as a mechanic at the Hunter Shell full-service station in Allegan, eventually becoming the owner. For 38 years, he served the Allegan community until his retirement. During that time, he met Judith (Irons) Raab and together shared 35 years of faithful marriage. Outside of work, he loved golfing local courses, bowling in leagues, and watching the Detroit Tigers. He was an accomplished man, with a strong work ethic and kept himself busy with projects at home.
He is survived by his wife Judith (Irons) Raab; children Victory (Paul) Knuckles, and Jewell Raab; step-children David (Tara) Wheeler, Kevin (Katie Melvin) Wheeler, and Amy (Scott) Meert; grandchildren Elijah (Melissa) Knuckles, Elicia (Eric) Essenburg, Nathan (Jasmin) Knuckles, Frankie (Hosley Werner) Knuckles, Rose (Connor Scane) Bazan, Alexandria Bazan, Jennifer (Logan Ripsam) Wheeler, Autumn Wheeler, Christianna Trutsch, Alyssa Trutsch, Kami Davidson, Kendra Wheeler, Abby Wheeler, and Jeb Meert, along with numerous great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Raab.
Larry's Memorial service will start at 11:00 AM with an hour's visitation beforehand on Monday, October 20th, at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel 528 Trowbridge Street, Allegan, MI 49010. Inurnment with military honors at 2:30 PM to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI 49012. No funeral procession from funeral home to Fort Custer.
