Obituary

Hopkins Twp., MI, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids. Mr. Gudith was born February 4, 1918 in Wyandotte, MI, the son of Claud and Retta (Bush) Gudith. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army. He attended South Monterey United Methodist Church and had been employed at General Motors in Kalamazoo for 26 years, retiring in 1974. Surviving are 1 son and his wife, Bob and Lynn Gudith of Clare, 2 sons-in-law, John Burdick of Delton and Carl Collier of Allegan; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Idalaine "Ike", 2 daughters, Sharon Burdick and Nancy Collier, 2 brothers, Mel and Leo, 2 sisters, Thelma Kelsy and Ellen Bieleth, 1 grandson, Roger Gudith and 1 granddaughter, Tammy Cushing. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor Linda Burton officiating. Interment Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp. with military honors by the Otsego V.F.W. Post #3030. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hopkins Food Pantry.
