Obituary

It is with deep sorrow; we announce the passing of Kurt John Antvelink.  On July 21, 2025, at the age of 62, Kurt passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior at home surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion.

Born on September 17, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Jim and Krystene Antvelink. Kurt grew up attending Calvin Christian Schools before proudly serving in the U.S. Army for four years. Following his service, he graduated from Davenport College. He then met and married Suzanne (Grant) Antvelink, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage. Together, they raised their three wonderful children in Hopkins, Michigan, where they continued to make their home.

Kurt was a devoted husband, father, and son. He found great joy in his family and was immensely proud of his children. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Rachel (Derek) Schmidt of Waukesha, Wisconsin; Reuben (Mary Ansley) Antvelink of Seattle, Washington; and Lee (Liz) Antvelink of Mount Pleasant, Michigan. He is also survived by his mother Krystene Antvelink, siblings Kevin (Dawn) Antvelink, Jeff (Sue) Antvelink and Luanne (Mike) Groen. He joins his father, Jim Antvelink, and his sister, Lana Antvelink, in the presence of the Lord.

Kurt took great pride in his work, dedicating many years as an estimator for the lumber industry where he formed strong friendships and was known for his reliability, integrity, and work ethic. If you knew Kurt, you knew his signature sarcasm, his thoughtful riddles at Christmas, and his quiet attentiveness to those around him. He had a unique way of showing he cared—always watching, always present, always ready with a wisecrack or a helping hand.

He will be deeply missed by all who have had the honor of knowing him. We know we will see him again in glory, because of his faith in Jesus Christ.

The family will be hosting a memorial service on Saturday July 26, 2025, at Hopkins Community Church at 2142 128th Street, Hopkins MI 49328. A visitation will be held preceding the service from 9-11am with a service at 11am and Luncheon to follow.
