Obituary

of Allegan, died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Poljan was born May 15, 1940, in Allegan, the daughter of Fordyce and Ruth (Peterson) Reed. Kay graduated from Allegan High School in 1958, she earned her degree in Nursing from Borgess Nursing School in Kalamazoo, and worked as a Registered Nurse for several hospitals in the Southeast Michigan area. She also worked as a Home Health Care Nurse for many years. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Allegan. Kay was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed attending the sporting events of her kids and grandchildren, and loved to be outdoors in the sunshine with her family. Surviving are her loving husband, Richard, 4 children; Mary Kay Poljan, Rick and Amy Joyce Poljan, and their children; Buddy, Hillary, David, Tony, Becca, Bo, Mary Elizabeth. Amy and David Knapp and their children; Kyle and Natalie. Martin and Kristin and their children; Junuh and Anna. Her brother, Martin Reed, her sister, Ann and Jim Chestnut, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, June 1, 2013, from 4-7 pm with the Rosary recited at 6 pm, and on Sunday from 4-7 pm with Rosary at 6 pm, and on Monday from 9-10 am at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 3, at 11 am at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen, Celebrant. Interment at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Watson Twp. Memorial donations may be made to Lung Cancer Research at Mayo Clinic, Dept. of Development, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905
