Obituary

of Allegan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. She was residing at Briarwood Assisted Living in Allegan. Kathryn was born February 9, 1924, in Arcadia, South Carolina, the daughter of William and Coddie Mae (Allen) Ford. Kathryn graduated from Fairforest High School, South Carolina in 1942. She was a member of both the First Reformed Church and the United Methodist Church in Allegan, where she taught Sunday School for over 25 years. She worked in downtown Allegan, at both Hiatt's and the Fashion Break, for 30 years. Kathryn loved being a mother and grandmother, and enjoyed sharing stories about growing up in the South with her seven brothers. Surviving are her two daughters: Trevah and (Merle) Dalrymple, Larisa and (Ken) Draves; four grandchildren: Kristy and (Matt) Milbocker, Jill and (Alfred) LeMaire, Austin Draves, and Ryan Draves; three great grandchildren: Tara, Chase, and Cole; her step granddaughter,Nicole Withrow; her brother, Bascom Ford; sister-in-law, Lois Ford; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence "Larry" Brininger; and six brothers. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016, at 12 noon, at the Allegan United Methodist Church, where a light lunch and visitation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegan United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Assoc. Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery, in the spring. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
