Obituary

of Kalamazoo, formerly of Allegan, died Friday, October 28, 2011, at her home. Kathy was born February 5, 1955, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Monte and Gloria (Hafer) Lane. She was a graduate of the Allegan High School in 1973, an had attended both Western Michigan University, and KVCC. She will always be remembered for her kind and happy nature. In recent years, her joy of music led her to play the piano and lead singing with the residents of the Covenant House in Kalamazoo. In junior high school, she played the lead role in "The Diary of Anne Frank", from which her life motto was "... because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart." Surviving are her parents, Monte and Gloria Lane of South Haven, her sister, Pamela and Terry Johnson of Allegan, 2 nephews; Jason and Michelle Johnson and Cameron Johnson all of Allegan, several aunts, uncles and cousins, and her good friend of 41 years, Kathy Jean. She was preceded in death by her brother, Philip William Lane in 1971, her maternal grandparents, her aunt and 3 uncles. A memorial service celebrating Kathy's life will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Pastor Paul Naumann, St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo will officiate. Private interment at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Covenant House, C/O St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 7201 Oakland Dr., Kalamazoo, MI 49024-4151
