Obituary

Karoline Denninger, 90 of Allegan died Tuesday, January 1, 2002 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mrs. Denninger was born Jan. 11, 1911 in Stanislavov, Poland. During WWI, at the age of 3, she was taken to Siberia with her family into Russian captivity. She then went to Yugoslavia where she established her own family. During WWII, they had to flee Yugoslavia into Germany, where she spent 6 years in various refugee camps. In 1951 she came to the United States with her 3 children. She was a member of the Pinedale Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved children, ceramics, gardening, and sewing and was very artistic. She was a very giving person and a great mother in spite of her difficult childhood. Surviving are her husband, Eugene; 2 children, Erika (Edmund) Grentz of Allegan and Richard Berner of Warren, MI; 2 stepchildren, Dr. & Mrs. William Wagner of New Jersey and David Denninger of Massachusetts; 14 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Peter Berner and Boza Swinyar, a son, Norbert Berner, and 2 infant sons. Friends may meet with the family from 1 p.m. Friday until time of service at 2 p.m. Friday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Pastor Alvaro Sauza officiating. Interment Lindsley Cemetery, Cheshire Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pinedale Seventh Day Adventist Church - Worthy Student Fund or Three Angels Broadcasting Network.
