Obituary

Judy Lea Petersen, 59, suddenly passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. She was born January 31, 1962 to Carl D. Petersen and Marie K. (Opperman) Petersen of Plainwell, MI. Judy was a lifelong resident of Allegan County. She volunteered for Senior Meals on Wheels, The Food Pantry and Pullman Elementary School as a Lunch, Library, Playground and Teacher's Aide. Judy enjoyed working as a puppy and kitten companion at the Allegan County Animal Shelter. Being a farm girl at heart, she always had an animal attached to her somehow. Animals bonded with her. Bowling was Judy's sport of choice, along with shopping (if she had an endless account, it would have been emptied multiple times over). Other fun for her were card and board games, going to dances and movies with her longtime boyfriend, Larry, going on trips with family and friends and doing word search puzzles. Surviving are her sister, Katherine (Terry) Harrison; brother, Carl (Judy) Petersen; stepbrother, Michael Weston; stepsister, Michelle (Steve) Ingram; and nephews, Ken Harrison, Carl Petersen and Robert Petersen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Marie; sister, Linda Lou; grandparents, Harry and Thelma Petersen, John Charles and Hulda Opperman; beloved pony, Teddy; and cat, Gussie. According to her wishes and the wishes of her family, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Allegan, MI. Service Details. Interment Location: Maplewood Cemetery Address: 130th Avenue and 17th Street Hopkins, Michigan 49328
