of Allegan, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday April 30, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. Judy was born July 2, 1945, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Randall and Violet (Peterson) Person. She graduated from Allegan High School in 1963, and attended Central Michigan University. She was a very involved member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Allegan. Judy was a graphic artist, she worked at Perrigo for a short time, and was an Instructional Assistant at Northward Elementary School for over 21 years. She always had a heart for underprivileged kids, and spent countless hours helping them and spending time with them. Surviving are her husband Mike, 3 children; Andy and Jennifer Melms of Ypsilanti, Carl Melms of Allegan, Carrie and Jose Orozco of Kalamazoo, 3 grandchildren; Svan, Touri, and Cajsa, her father, Randy Person, brother, David and Larie Person, sister, Rinda and Ned Newhof, mother-in-law: Edith Melms, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Michah, and her mother, Violet. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, May 3, from 5-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with a 1 hour visitation prior to service. Pastor Dean Beckwith will officiate. Interment at the church cemetery, Watson Twp. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Church or Wings of Hope Hospice.
