of Yankee Springs Township, formerly of Allegan, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Briarwood Assisted Living, in Allegan. Mrs. Hale was born August 23, 1948, in Allegan, the daughter of Anker and Mary (Tanczos) Smith. Joyce graduated from Allegan High School in 1966. She retired as Head Postal Clerk, from the Allegan Post Office, in 2003, after 35 years of service. On December 22, 1968, Joyce married Greg Hale, who survives. Also surviving are her 3 sisters, Lillian and Paul Peet of Farwell, Margaret and Dan Bridgeman of Allegan, and Karen and Max Nelson of Oklahoma, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
