Joyce Marie Dornan went to be with Jesus Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at her home among family. She was born to Lee James and Verna Ruth (Tourtellotte) Dornan in Glenn Michigan on November 16, 1926. Joyce married Robert Banks on May 7, 1946 and celebrated 72 years of marriage before Robert's death in 2018. Together Robert and Joyce raised three children- daughters Janis DeHaan of Allegan, Linda (Don) Helf of Pioneer, OH, and son Daniel ( Nancy) of Hudsonville, MI. Joyce attended school in Glenn, South Haven and moved to Allegan in the middle of her Junior year and graduated in 1944 from Allegan High School.She then went to Parsons Business School in Kalamazoo, MI. She later worked for Allegan Public Schools for over 25 years as secretary to principals and the superintendent of schools. In life, Joyce enjoyed time with her family, playing the piano, reading, sewing, cooking new recipes and worshipping the Lord. Joyce was proceeded in death by her parents, sisters Carol Bessey, Dorothy Prehn and Ardeth Daus, granddaughter Denise Marie DeHaan, great granddaughter Devon Brooke Ryba and son-in-law Rod DeHaan. She is survived by her grandchildren Jason and Kristin Hileski, Dan and Brittany DeHaan, Florin Helf, Dan and Kendall Banks, and Jonathon Banks. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley,Dillon (Jessica), Devin, Michael (Leslie), Noah , Amelia, Avery, Parker, Landry and great-great-grandchildren Emma, Caiden, Carson and Carter. Also many nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart. A private family committal will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
