Obituary

Monterey Twp., Hopkins, MI, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mr. Ilmberger was born Dec. 21, 1903 in Rohrbach, Germany, the son of Mathias and Anna (Weber) Ilmberger. He came to the United States in May of 1923, when he was 20 years old, and farmed in Monterey Twp. since 1942. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Allegan, and a past member of the Odd Fellows. On Dec. 15, 1931, in Chicago, he was united in marriage to Drusilla (Sorvala), who survives. Also surviving are 2 brothers, John (Alfrieda) Ilmberger of Allegan and Ulrich Ilmberger of Germany; several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com., where the Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Jerome M. Heyman, O.S.A., Celebrant. Interment Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church.
