Allegan, MI, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Plainwell. Mr. Voglewede was born June 18, 1925 in Decatur, IN , the son of Raymond and Mary (Meyer) Voglewede. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and had been employed at Central Soya Co. in Decatur. He moved to Michigan in 1958 and went into business at Handy Electric Mills as a salesman before retiring from Ker-Ra Sales Company. He was a disabled veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He attended the University of Notre Dame. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist, and 3rd and 4th degree of Knights of Columbus, a member of the Elks and Eagles, and a member of the American Legion for 60 years. He loved being with people and had many friends. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann (Schoenle); 4 children and their spouses, David and Janel Voglewede of Canton, Daniel Voglewede of Allegan, John and Lara Voglewede of Allegan and Anne and Tom Adams of California; 9 grandchildren, Emily, Stephen, Sarah, Jessica, Andrew, Rachel and Thomas Voglewede, and Mason and Evan Adams; 3 brothers, Donald and Jan Voglewede of Ft. Wayne, IN, Jim and Rowena Voglewede and Jerry and Carolyn Voglewede all of Decatur, IN ; 3 sisters, Mary Ann and Dick Nartker of Union, OH, Joan and Robert Heimann of Ft. Wayne, IN and Rosalie and Bob Gase of Decatur, IN. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Margaret Voglewede. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
