Hopkins, MI, died Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mr. Hitt was born June 20, 1934 in Chicago, the son of John and Lila (Schenning) Hitt. He graduated from Hopkins High School in 1952. He was a butcher in the area for more than 30 years, having worked in several stores during that time. Surviving are his wife, Grace; 2 children, Terri and Harold Lemley and Bruce and Mary Hitt all of Allegan; 4 grandchildren, Nancy, Leanne, Johnathan and Justin; 1 great- grandson, Lucas; 2 sisters, Jean Granville of Alaska and Joan Brandstatt of Hopkins; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Paula Lemley, and sister, Joan Schweikert. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 p.m. Monday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where memorial services will be held at 4 pm. Pastor Jack Klunder officiating.
