of Allegan, formerly of Hickory Hills, Illinois, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Mr. Curtis was born January 27, 1932, in Chicago, IL, the son of Charles and Caroline (McVey) Curtis. John graduated from University of Illinois, and was in the ROTC program, as well as the engineering program. He then joined the United States Army and served his country. He worked for both Corn Products Corp. in Summit, IL and Herdlein and Company in Tinley Park, IL. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Allegan, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. John married Agnes Farr, on April 21, 1956, they lived in the Chicago area for over 45 years and in the Allegan area for the past 16 years. Surviving are his wife, Agnes; 5 children, Mike and Jessica of Hickory Hills, IL, Jim and Jill of Hometown, IL, Tom and Donna, and Sue and Jeff Manske all of Hickory Hills, and Ann and David Smith of Fall River, WI; 10 grandchildren, Paul, Jaclyn, Kaitlyn, Kevin, Jonathan, Michelle, Rebecca, Steven, Genevieve and Daniel; 1 brother, William and Patricia Curtis of LaGrange; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Curtis of AZ, and Eileen Curtis of Tinley Park; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, George and Robert. Friends may meet with the family Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Services will also take place in IL. Visitation will be Monday from 6-9 p.m. at Lack and Son's Hickory Funeral Home in Hickory Hills, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patricia's Catholic Church, Hickory Hills, IL. Fr. Dario, Celebrant. Interment Holy Sepulchre, Alsip, IL.
