Palos Heights, IL, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Allegan. Mrs. McElvain was born October 21, 1932 in Allegan Twp., the daughter of Joseph and Ann (Scharf) Levy. She was a member of the St. Alexander Catholic Church in Palos Heights, IL and had been employed at the Bank of America in Chicago for 45 years. Surviving are 3 daughters, Dianne Appell of Illinois, Joyce Snelius (Greg Aiello) of Illinois and Jane (Steve) Mele of Allegan; 8 grandchildren, Traci, Jill, Chris, Gina, Will, Kyle, Allie and Luke; 1 sister, June Cora of Illinois; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation has taken place. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Watson Twp. Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen, Celebrant. Interment at a later date at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alip, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
