age 79, of Allegan, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 in Allegan. She was born August 6, 1935 in Hamilton, Michigan, the daughter of Irvin and May (Truax) Arndt. JoAnn was a member of Allegan United Methodist Church. She worked for the Allegan Public Schools (Dawson Elementary) for 27 years. She enjoyed involving herself with the Allegan County Fair, Food Pantry, Port-A-Beds Camp Group, Avon Palms RV Park (part-time resident) Bowling Green, Florida. JoAnn is survived by her husband Max, who she married in June of 1955; her children: Ken (DeeAnn) Whisler, Jeff (Jaime) Whisler; her five grandchildren: Melissa (Andy), Nicholas, Benjamin, Samantha (Erik), Ashton; her three great-grandchildren: Archer, Addison, Aria; her sisters Joyce Waterman Markes and Nancy Lumber; and her best friend since elementary school, Rachel Wait. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Timothy and her brother William. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 3-5:00 P.M. at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. The Funeral will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Allegan United Methodist Church. Pastor Robert Lynch will be officiating.
