Jerry Frederick Hartman, 82 of Allegan, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 slightly after noon. He passed away peacefully during a nap. Jerry had significant underlying health issues over the years but always fought through them and was seemingly doing well. His heart suddenly gave out while he slept in his favorite recliner at the Hartman Conference Center in Allegan, Michigan. He was born May 16, 1937 in Minster, Ohio. Jerry was a 1955 Allegan High School graduate and a 1959 graduate of Kalamazoo College majoring in Economics and History. Jerry used his knowledge to become an innovative entrepreneur and had a true passion for business. He thoroughly enjoyed others and loved socializing with friends and family at the Hartman Conference Center. Throughout his life he generously supported the community and the many charities closest to his heart. Jerry loved his devoted wife, children and grandchildren. Along with his wife, Sanda, Jerry is survived by his son, Aaron (Pam) Hartman and his daughter, Lydia (Rich West) Hartman; his grandchildren, Emily, Andrew and Mary Hartman and Reese, Collin and Alyse Baughman; his brother, Jim (Pat) Hartman and sister, Diane (Tim) Wilcox, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jerry and Sanda had many family members that were important throughout their lives. Rose (Wynn), Morrie, Ward (Robin) Granger, and Mark Granger. Jerry was the second generation owner of Christian Oil Company - now owned by his son Aaron- and owner of Allegan U-Stor. Jerry had a positive influence in many local young persons lives by providing their first employment opportunity at Christian Oil Company including many nephews.
