Jeremy Wade Harper, 50, of Allegan, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Born August 30, 1971 in Alton, Illinois, he was the son of Laura (Coleman) Harper and the late Donald Harper. Jeremy attended Portage Central High School where he played football, was the baritone in the band, and was on the track team where he competed in discus and shot put. After high school, Jeremy refined his taste for bourbon. He played on two dart teams, and a bowling league which he had his dad and his sister as teammates. He was also on a softball team named "Road Kill." His nickname was "Bullfrog," as in "Jeremiah was….". Jeremy met his wife of 19 years, Gail, on a blind date. They bought a house in Allegan and made it their home. In 2005, they were blessed with their son Jake (Jacob). Jeremy was a loving husband, partner, and father. He loved spending time with his family. He shared his love of the St. Louis Cardinals with Gail and Jake. Jeremy was a tireless worker. He managed Applebees in Plainwell for 15 years. He worked at Haworth in Holland and was currently employed at Perrigo in Allegan. Jeremy is survived by his loving wife, Gail (Elenbaas) Harper; his son, Jacob Harper; his siblings, Anita (Lee) Joiner and Elizabeth (Michael) Ferguson; his in-laws, Ronald Barkley, Karen (Michael) Franckowiak, Gloria (Martin) Stratmoen, and David (Jennifer) Elenbaas; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Wilda Harper and John and Laura Coleman; his father-in-law, Wilbur Elenbaas; his mother-in-law, Kathleen Elenbaas; and his sisters-in-law, Cynthia Barkley and Valarie Elenbaas. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made in Jeremy's name to the Allegan Fire Department Toy Drive, 300 Monroe St, Allegan, MI 49010 or the Jeremy Harper Memorial Account to benefit Jacob Harper, donations made through any 5/3 Bank. Interment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan, Michigan. Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements. Service Details.
