of Allegan, passed away on December 8, 2015 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Jeanne was born on March 10, 1940, in Allegan, the daughter of Lyle and Thelma (Thompson) Smith. Jeanne was a blessed addition to the Smith household. She was one of the first children to pass through Precious Acres Recreational and Educational Program for the Developmentally Disabled. Later, Jeanne became involved with the Sheltered Workshop and enjoyed her time there and the people she encountered. In her spare time, she loved to embroider and spend time with family. Jeanne was truly a special person and will be missed. Jeanne is survived by her two brothers: John and Susan Smith, Dan and Linda Smith; three sisters: Linda Tooker and Mike Melms, Marietta "Weeze" Stoughton and Ray Evert, Carol and George Hoffman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Thelma Smith. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 15th at 11:00 AM at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, to celebrate Jeanne's life. Private interment will take place at Miner Cemetery.
