Janet Louise Smith, 74 of Allegan, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Born July 17, 1947 in Huntsville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ivan Gideon and Lina Daisy (Sexton) Stonecipher and the wife of Bliss R. Smith. Janet was a caring and loving wife and mother, along with an amazing grandma and great-grandma. The tender care that she took of her family was a true gift to them all. One of her favorite things to do was to teach her grandchildren water safety at her former lake house, even though she was extremely fearful of water, she wanted to make sure that they were safe and comfortable in the water. Janet was a member of the TOPS group and enjoyed the meetings and camaraderie with the other members. In her spare time, she enjoyed getting lost in a good book. Family was her main love though, and even though she is no longer with them, the memories created will be cherished through the years ahead. Janet is survived by her loving husband, Bliss; her son, Thomas (Melissa) Smith; her five grandchildren, Nicole Smith, Bradley Smith II, Coty Smith and Andrea Smith; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Jack Stonecipher. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Smith; two brothers, James Stonecipher and Dennis Stonecipher; and her sister, Linda Sue Kuhn. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Trowbridge Township Hall (913 32nd Street, Allegan, Michigan 49010).
