Allegan, MI, died Thursday, July 10, 2003 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Gatten was born Aug. 30, 1913 in Newman Grove, NE, the daughter of Andrew and Emma (Vaage) Larson. She graduated from Newman Grove High School in Nebraska and from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD. She had been a substitute teacher for many years in the Allegan Public Schools. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a former member of the Lady Elks and Ot-Well-Egan Country Club. Surviving are 2 children, Mary Ann Gatten of Illinois and John T. (Tom) and June Gatten of Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George T. Gatten in 1983, 2 brothers, Clark and Leonard, and a sister, Marie Thomazin. Friends may meet with the family from 10 a.m. Monday until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Monday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. John Flynn, O.S.A., Celebrant.
