Obituary

of Dorr, formerly of Hopkins, died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at his home. Mr. Gaunce was born April 19, 1938, in Carlisle, Kentucky, the son the late, Lovell and Pearl (Bellamy) Gaunce. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Marion and James Russell Bellamy. Jim graduated from High School in Kentucky, and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked for over 25 years with Spartan, as a truck driver, retiring in 1998. He loved camping, travel, music and hunting. Surviving are his 4 children: Jennifer and Larry Raab, Janet and Kevin Johnson, Julie Velioglu, June and Rod McKinnon; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: W.C. and Pat Gaunce, Bud Bellamy, Stanley and Leta Bellamy; 3 sisters: Anna Cassidy, Margaret and William Pittman, Helen Gaunce; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, April 26, 2015, from 2 - 5 pm, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 am. Pastor Greg Carlson will officiate. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp. Memorials may be made to the Wings Home, 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010, or the Dorr American Legion Post # 127, P.O.Box 68, Dorr, MI 49323.
