Obituary

Jack Lee VanVolkinburg of Allegan, Michigan went to be with Jesus on July 1, 2023, surrounded by his family. Jack was born October 19, 1935, in Cadillac, Michigan to his late parents Fern and Vena (Follis) VanVolkinburg. He would meet his soulmate Lois Jean Wagner and shared 67 years in marriage. Jack served in the Army for 2 years and would go on to work at Rockwell as a machinist where he took an early retirement. Jack was a hardworking, faithful man and would always learn new things advancing his knowledge and understanding of all things. He was truly the "Jack" of all things, and master of more. His hard work, diligence, craftmanship, and determination made him incredibly useful everywhere he went. He loved spending time with his neighbors on Allegan Dam Road, being their "supervisor" as they cranked and tooled on their classic cars. Highly intelligent and crafty, Jack learned woodworking and truly could make the highest quality furniture, birdhouses, planters, and everything else in between. He thought it ridiculous to pay full price for furniture when he could make something with his hands, and it would last a lifetime. That's the man Jack was and will continue to be, as his legacy is carried on. Jack loved teaching and showing his skills to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially Zach. They spent many days in the pole barn creating memories and instilling generational talents. Jack was also a skilled hunter and fisherman. He knew the best spots for hunting and the choicest ponds for fishing. Above everything, he loved Jesus, and was a man of God through and through.

Jack is survived by his wife Lois Jean (Wagner) VanVolkinburg; children Greg (Coral) VanVolkinburg, Scott (Lucy) VanVolkinburg, Daisy Krotz, Lori (John) Thompson, Clayton (Tracy) VanVolkinburg; sister Doris Metesh, and Jo Ann (Tom) Madreske; 13 Grandchildren and 32 Great-Grandchildren who all miss him dearly.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents Fern and Vena (Follis) VanVolkinburg; siblings and spouses, Donnabell (Jay) Gunneman, Don (Rose) VanVolkinburg, Ron (Anna Marie) VanVolkinburg, Larry (Dora) VanVolkinburg, Keith (Jean) VanVolkinburg, Duane (Elaine) VanVolkinburg, and Vena Mae (Glenn) Rosenberger; also, son in-law Wayne Krotz.
