Age 76, of Hopkins, entered the Lord's presence on Feb. 12, 2012 after a 9 month illness. He was born August 3, 1935, son of the late Julius and Helen Brahlek. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris (Layton) and his 4 children, Lois (Steve) Manda, Steve (Autumn) Brahlek, Phil (Tina) Brahlek, and Ruth (Dave) Nichols. Jack's laughter, leadership, and love will also be greatly missed by 12 grandchildren--Dusty, Bambi, Tina Marie, Ricky, Steven, Matthew, Amanda, Kristen, Kimberly, Caleb, Nathan and Amy Jo, 4 great-grandchildren, sisters--Norma (Jerry) Kronewitter of Indiana and Marlene (Pete) Johnson of Georgia , brother James (Therese) Brahlek of Maryland, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Jack graduated from Greene Township High School in 1953, Bethel College in 1959 and later completed his teaching degree at Spring Arbor College. Jack taught at Northwest Middle School, but his passion was teaching the Word of God formally and informally. He was a member of Friendship Bible Church of Hopkins from 1998 until his death where he served on the leadership team and as a teacher. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, February 17, from 5-8 PM, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. There will be a celebration of Jack's life on Saturday, February 18, at 2 PM, Friendship Bible Church, Hopkins, Michigan. Pastor Len Schildroth will officiate. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp. Memorials may be made to Friendship Bible Church.
