of Goodells, Michigan, formerly of Allegan, died Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Port Huron Hospital. Ivan was born August 8, 1928 in Monterey Twp., the son of Forrest and Lavina Taylor. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus Third and Fourth Degree. Ivan volunteered many hours of his life to Boy Scouts, he was a Scoutmaster in Roscommon, Troop 944, for over 10 years, and was a mentor to 6 different boys as they earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Ivan also earned the Wood Badge. He retired from the State of Michigan after 30 years of service. He worked for many years at the Ace Hardware Store in Allegan. He enjoyed being outdoors, cooking, camping, hunting, playing cards, fishing, and traveling, across Michigan and others states. And he really loved spending time with his family. He had a quite, calm demeanor that will be missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his children; Tom and Candi Taylor of Roscommon, Bob and Pam Taylor of Six Lakes, Mary and Bob Somma of Goodells, Karen Spika of CO, Doug and Dynnette Taylor of VA, Gary and Diana Taylor of Howell, Margaret and Ron Priestley of Whitehall, and Sara and Troy Lindley of Newaygo, 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, 1 sister, Arla and Burl Simpson of Hopkins, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Frances, a son, Steven, grandson, Roger, son-in-law, Mike, brother, Leland (Chuck), and sister-in-law, Dody Taylor. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Allegan, on Monday May 18, 2009 at 11 am. Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen, Celebrant. Graveside services will be held at 6 pm at the Gerrish Twp., Cemetery, Roscommon. Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus or Boy Scouts of America.
