Ione Arlene Hunt passed on to Heaven Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Swartz Creek Courtyard Manor Nursing Home. She was left with a loving sendoff by her six children and caretakers. Ione was born August 13, 1929 in Cheboygan, MI, the daughter of Maurice and Verna (Vincent) Deering. She was married to James F. Hunt, Sr. in April 1946 at the Allegan Methodist Church. She enjoyed growing flowers, daily walks (including the Mackinac Bridge Walk in 2003 with her daughter, Vicki), crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Ione is survived by her sister, Maurine (Deering) Ockert; six children, James F. (Debbie) Hunt, Jr., Vicki Hunt, Janet Tilley, Susan (Jon) Keldsen, Brian (Debbie) Hunt and Timothy (Ruth) Hunt; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Maurice "Sonny" Deering; sister-in-law, Margie Deering; and brother-in-law, Bernard Ockert. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Allegan United Methodist Church. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Robert Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
