Nowakowski, Imogene P., died Friday, October 18, 2002 at Tender Care of Portage. Mrs. Nowakowski was born March 24, 1920 in LeRoy, Michigan, the daughter of Hurlon & Maude Butcher Powers. On October 4, 1940 Imogene married Stanley Nowakowski who preceded her in death on January 23, 1986. She had been employed for many years as a bus driver for Comstock (Green Meadows) Schools. She is survived by 10 children & spouses; LeRoy & Judy Nowakowski of Richland, Joyce & Bill Harvey of Kalamazoo, Dean & Diane of Richland, Norma Jean lux of Hudsonville, Hurlon & Dorla of Scotts, Carol Cook of Coloma, Karen Simkins of Coloma, Ivan & Diane of CO, Bernie & Robin of Scotts and Gale & Steve Kimberlin of Hudsonville, 28 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 5 step grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, 4 sisters in law; Grace Powers of Portage, Zella Powers of Kalamazoo, Olive Hancock of Greenville and Annie Kremer of Allegan, 1 brother in law, Albert Nowakowski of Hopkins, several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Arden, Leo, Lyle, Francis & Merle and 1 sister, Genevieve Slaughter. Friends may meet with the family Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11am. Pastor Vern Powers officiating.
