of Miner Lake, Allegan, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Bickford Assisted Living, Battle Creek. She was born July 7, 1927 in Allegan, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Bosas) Sikorskas. She graduated from Allegan High School and married Wilson Hitchcock in 1950. Helen worked as a secretary to the Director of Allegan County Department of Social Services, a job she loved, and retired in 1982 after 27 years of service. Helen lived at Miner Lake where she enjoyed feeding birds and animals and observing the change of seasons. Her hobbies included Indy Car racing, travel, music, and playing slot machines. Helen had many friends who were drawn to her adventurous, colorful personality. She lived her life to the fullest. Helen was sustained by her strong faith and was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Helen is survived by niece Anita Hallas, great-nephew Michael (Bridget) Hallas, great-nieces Kelly Hallas and Anne (Justin) Davidhizar, sister-in-law Beatrice Worden, special friend Helen Darby, and many cherished friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilson Hitchcock and sisters Mary (Ed) Petroshus and Berniece (Keith) Begeman. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 6-8:00 P.M. at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Rosary will be at the beginning of the visit at 6:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Allegan. Celebrant is The Reverend Alan Jorgensen. Interment is at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery, Allegan. Memorial Contributions may be made to: Allegan County Medical Care Community, 3265 122nd Avenue, Allegan, Michigan 49010.
