Allegan, formerly of Lake Orion, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at her daughter's home. Helen was born June 19, 1929 in Royal Oak, Michigan, the daughter of Benedict and Emy (Chappuis) Welte. She graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and she received her Master's Degree in Art History from Wayne State. Helen was a Professor at Oakland Community College from 1966 - 1989. She was an accomplished artist, loved gardening and painting. She is survived by her 3 children, Andy Kurrasch of Saugatuck, Emily and David Green of Allegan and Roger Kurrasch of Metamora; 6 grandchildren, Alex, Ann, Hannah, Isaac, Benjamin and Christopher. Friends may meet with the family on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Graveside services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Square Lake Cemetery, Lake Orion, Michigan. Memorials to Wings of Hope Hospice.
