Obituary

Allegan, MI, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, May 17, 2003, at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Flowers was born July 28, 1908 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Harry L. and Janet S. (Armstrong) Hornketh. Helen married James L. Flowers on March 8, 1930 in Philadelphia, they were active members of the Bethany Collegiate Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia and Haverton."Uncle Jim" and "Aunt Helen" were the founders of The Childrens Church of the Air, a Christian radio ministry involving children in the Philadelphia area for many years. Helen & Jim moved to Allegan in 1973, and became members of the First Baptist Church. Helen is survived by 2 daughters and their spouses, Lorraine & Dean Brindley of Allegan and Lee & James McWhorter of Glendale, AZ; 2 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; 1 step great-great grandchild; and many, many special friends. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1986, an infant daughter, Catherine Joan, and 5 brothers. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor James H. Turner officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Allegan County Medical Care Facility.
