Allegan, died Monday, November 16, 2009, at Ely Manor in Allegan. Mr. Van Dam was born January 4, 1934 in Jamestown, Michigan, the son of Harry and Reka Van Dam. Harvey was a Veteran of the United States Army, he had worked for several years at Bradford Paper in Holland, he owned and operated a furniture store in Allegan and was an auctioneer. Surviving are his 4 children, Deb and Dale Jernigan, Thomas Van Dam and Cindy Knowlton, Keith and Cindy Van Dam and Roxanne Van Dam all of Allegan, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 4 brothers, Fred and Joyce of Hamilton, Rich and Marla of Zeeland, Roger and Pat of Allegan and Dave and Marla of Howard City, 1 sister, Karen and Ron Sebright of Fife Lake, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his 2 wives, Shirley and Ruth, his son, Harvey and his granddaughter, Samantha. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 2 pm at Brookside Cemetery in Dunningville. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
