Allegan, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Mr. Nielsen was born March 28, 1932 in Allegan, the son of Adler and Ethel (Clark) Nielsen. Harry worked all of his life, at a young age of 11, he worked the fields and orchards in the Allegan area. He set "pins" at the local bowling alley, and helped build Sunset Lanes. Harry graduated from Allegan High School in 1950. He worked at several gas stations before he and his brother Al, owned and operated Nielsen Gulf Station. He drove truck for Superior Dairy for many years delivering milk and ice cream through out the area. Harry also worked for George Olcott Company, and the Allegan County Road Commission. He was a Cadet leader at church and drove the church bus, as well as a 4-H leader and Cub Scout Master. On September 23, 1950, at the Bravo Reformed Church, Harry married Carrie Terrel, who survives, also surviving are his 3 children, Elsie and Bill Jones, Harry Jr. and Lois, and Saree and Stan "Butch" Miller all of Allegan, 5 grandchildren, Shannen and Vik Jaglan, Jacob Miller, Cassie and Luke Avink, Monica Owsiany and Beth Tucker, 4 great grandchildren, Anella, Nicolas, Cole and Alyssa, 1 brother, Al and Eleanor Nielsen of Allegan, 1 sister- in- law, June Nielsen of Allegan, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marty and 2 sisters, Louise and Arlene. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 am. Pastor Barry Lucas will officiate. Interment Millgrove Cemetery, Valley Twp. Memorials may be made to the Congregational Kitchen or the Allegan County Medical Care Facility.
